GHPA President's Award: The Heritage Society
 
 
   

The Heritage Society is being recognized for more than 50 years of preservation and heritage education programs in Houston and Harris County. The organization’s founding in 1954 marked the beginning of a formal historic preservation movement in Houston. The Heritage Society is best known for preserving the historic structures at Sam Houston Park in downtown Houston, including the 1868 Pillot House (pictured).
