The Clayton Family: GHPA President's Award

The Clayton family is being recognized for its long history of exceptional public service and contributions to the local, national and international communities. The award specifically recognizes the family’s support of the comprehensive renovation of the Clayton Library Center for Genealogical Research. The facility includes the historic Clayton home (pictured above), which was built in 1917 and designed by Birdsall P. Briscoe. Houston businessman and statesman William Lockhart Clayton and his wife Susan Ada Vaughn Clayton deeded to the house to City of Houston in 1958 for use as a library.

Next winner: 609 Heights Boulevard
